Antique early 18th century Polish Saxon hunting sword of the “Jäger’s”, the personal hunters that served at the court of Augustus II the Strong. 

Details: A brass hilt comprised of a short globular quillon, knuckle–guard, down–curved shell–guard, with the monogram "FAR" (Fryderyk August Rex), issuant, with a rococo ornament quillon block, decorated with a cartouche containing the initials AR (August Rex). A horn grip with a brass collar, and cap pommel, with a straight tapering blade, double–edged toward the point, in its original brass mounted leather scabbard.  

Frederick Augustus I, or Augustus II the Strong (German: August II der Starke; Polish: August II Mocny; 12 May 1670 – 1 February 1733), was Elector of Saxony (as Frederick Augustus I), and became King of Poland 1697-1733 (as Augustus II).  

In the time of his reign, and also later in the reign of his son Augustus III, there was a personal union between Saxony and Poland 1697-1763; The Electors of Saxony were also elected Kings of Poland.
